four strings around the world
A program of global resonance celebrating the diversity of cultures through the unifying voice of solo violin, with music inspired by the folklore of: Eastern and Western Europe, the Middle East and Asia, Africa, the Caribbeans, South and North America.
Four Strings Around the World project won the New Music USA Award, a Puffin Foundation Grant, and the Creative and Performing Arts Award from the University of Maryland.
“Four Strings not only extends the superbly talented Muresanu in new directions, but offers a glimpse into the variations of violin technique and approach that only be gleaned by attending different concerts in various country fairs, Irish pubs, campfire gatherings, and parlors.”
“ On all levels, a very impressive release.” ”
What if a piece of music could transport you to the place it was written, inspired by, or first performed? Through virtual reality, this collaboration between University of Maryland's College of Arts and Humanities (ARHU) and College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences (CMNS) offers an immersive experience that takes audiences beyond the auditory.
